While in KL we visited the Kuala Gandah National Elephant Sanctuary, a conservation centre which works to shelter orphaned and injured elephants from Burma and Malaysia, and also is the base for the elephant relocation team. This is a group of people who relocate wild elephants from farmland and plantations where they damage crops into the Taman Negara National Park where they are safe from farmers and poacher.
We fed, rode and swam with the elephants, and I was impressed by their massiveness and amazed by their intelligence, gentleness and emotions. Truly wonderful creatures and not Dumb at all!
I couldn’t resist posting a teaser!
